History

Bangalore Bible fellowship was formed in July 2005 as a fellowship of believers who were Theologians, business and working professionals. This motely  group of people felt the need to cater to the spiritual needs of the working professionals in North Bangalore, and that resulted in the formation of this fellowship.

The founders included a mix of theologians, business folks and working professionals

The following were the founders

  1. Rev Dr. Sukhwant Bhatia ( the then Dean, Academics of SAIACS)
  2. Rev Dr. Ashish Chrispal ( The then Principal of SAIACS)
  3. Mr. Rajshekar (Working Professional at IBM)
  4.  Late Mr. Sam Tolar ( Business man)
  5. Mr. Frank Rajan ( Working Professional)

The fellowship started in an informal manner, with sharing and teaching the word of God, primarily aimed at applying the word to our daily lives.  It remained a lay led fellowship till late 2010. Each member of the fellowship took up responsibilities to do some thing in the fellowship.

Somewhere along the way, the group formalized our purpose statement.

We are a body of believers, making a difference, as light and salt, at the workplace, and in the community, under the Lordship of Christ

As more people joined, the fellowship turned into a Church and a more formal structure of Sunday service was formed. Guest speakers were invited to talk on Sundays. Formal preaching commenced, towards 2006. The ministry remained primarily Sunday ministry till the year 2008. Sunday School was initiated in the year 2008. A formal youth group meeting also commenced some time in 2008 and the Women’s felowship was initiated post that. Thus the Church got more organisations to support the growth.

Around the year 2009, as the congregation grew, a need was felt for meeting the pastoral needs of the congregation. Till then the lay leadership of the church was taking care of the fellowship needs and the Sunday service needs. However, the feeling that regular pastoral care is required grew, and we started looking for a full time pastor. This search culminated in us appointing our first full time pastor in the end of 2010. We have had three full time pastors since then – Pr. Narayanan, Pr.Albert Davis, Pr.Augustine Bhasker. Pr. Augustine Bhasker is the present pastor for the Church.
